HIROSHIMA REFLECTION

Recently, I was given the opportunity to travel to Hiroshima, Japan. The city that was hit by the very first atomic bomb during World War II. It amazed me to see that despite this city having suffered so much loss and devastation that it has been rebuilt and is standing here today. 

I was also amazed to learn that mankind do live here and that even after all the exposure to radiation, humans, animals and all living beings alike flourish. 

It was such a dramatic change to visit this city, after spending time in a big city like Tokyo, the serenity was a welcome change. It was hard to distinguish whether the serenity came from the smaller population or if it came from the solemness of the people visiting and reflecting. 

Only one structure remains from that devasting day, the Atomic Bomb Dome, left standing with what was left of it. A daily reminder of how much pain and suffering war can bring. 

But most importantly, a daily reminder for all of us to pray for peace. x
